Historic Sites
Visit the Victorian home where Nobel Prize winning author Ernest Hemingway was born in 1899.
Step back in time at the Ernest Hemingway Birthplace, a Victorian home nestled just west of Chicago's downtown in Oak Park, Illinois. This beautifully preserved house museum was built in 1890 and witnessed the birth of its namesake writer in 1899. The famed author spent the first six years of his life in the home, and recent restoration projects ensure that the furnishings and tours reflect the young man who lived there -- and the influence he continues to hold over the village.
Guided interior tours are available and include admission into the Ernest Hemingway Museum just down the street.
