Built in 1900, the Villa is a restored Mediterranean castle on the Mississippi, open for self-guided tours daily and guided by appointment. It also serves as Quincy's Tourist Information Center and is stop #26 on the Great River Road.
Villa Kathrine is a unique example of Mediterranean architecture in the Midwest. Located on the bluffs of the Mississippi, Villa Kathrine houses Quincy's tourist information center.
Built in 1900 by world traveler George Metz, Villa Kathrine stands as a reflection of his adventures and imagination. Inspired by the architecture he admired abroad, the Villa brings a touch of the Mediterranean to the banks of the Mississippi. From its intricate tile work to its storied tower, every detail tells a piece of Quincy’s history.
